DENPASAR – ITB STIKOM Bali is currently moving towards a dual degree campus center. Not only at the national level but also at the international level. Dual degrees allow students to get two diplomas with two different study programs at the same time. That way, graduates will get benefits when entering the industrial world.
Vice Chancellor III of ITB STIKOM Bali Yudi Agusta, Ph.D. said, there are three dual degree collaborations with three universities outside ITB STIKOM Bali.
“The first is with Universitas Teknologi Bandung for the Visual Communication Design (DKV) study program. Later, students will get two bachelor’s degrees in computer science at ITB STIKOM Bali and DKV at UTB,” said Yudi Agusta, Saturday, January 25, 2025.
Dual degree students of the Information Systems and DKV study programs take lectures at the ITB STIKOM Bali campus and 3 months at the Universitas Teknologi Bandung campus.
With HELP University Malaysia, lectures are conducted at ITB STIKOM Bali with a curriculum following Malaysia. Cooperation with the neighboring country uses English as the language of instruction.
“Specifically with Malaysia, after graduating you can get 2 diplomas, a diploma from ITB STIKOM Bali and HELP University. From interviews with students, they prefer to use a Malaysian diploma, the salary is much higher, it can be up to 2 times,” said Yudi Agusta.
Meanwhile, the dual degree with DNUI China requires students to study in China for a year. The program with DNUI applies to digital business and management study programs.
“With DNUI, it has only been running for 2 years and the prospects are very good. Graduates can choose jobs in China or in Indonesia, there is no problem,” said Yudi.
In the next development plan, ITB STIKOM Bali is exploring with universities in South Korea. Yudi said that he saw the interest of young people in mastering Korean.
“The influence of K-Pop is quite massive and many young people are interested in learning about things related to Korea. From here we are targeting a dual degree program with universities in Korea,” said Yudi Agusta.
In addition, the largest IT campus in Bali Nusra is also exploring similar programs with universities in Australia.
“Only the living cost in Australia is quite high. But currently ITB STIKOM Bali is heading towards the center of dual degree campuses,” explained Yudi Agusta. (*)
